E Ink and Sharp Display Technology Corporation Collaborate on Oxide Backplanes for Next Generation of E-Paper

E Ink Holdings and Sharp Display Technology Corporation (SDTC) announced the collaboration with each other, and adopt SDTC's IGZO backplanes for E-Paper modules using in eReader and eNote products.

E Ink and SDTC have been working together for two years to bring oxide TFTs for ePaper displays into the market. Going forward, E Ink and SDTC will explore the use of IGZO for larger sizes for signage applications in retail and transportation. In addition, Sharp Group will also consider collaborative models with E Ink for various ePaper applications.

The Next Generation of ePaper based on this time's collaboration is scheduled to be exhibited at CEATEC 2022, which will be held at the Makuhari Messe convention center from October 18 to 21 of this year.

Nippon Paper and Mitsui Chemicals Partner to Develop Biocomposite

Nippon Paper Industries and Mitsui Chemicals announced to set to partner in the development of a new biocomposite with ahigh content of cellulose powder, a woody biomass material.

The two companies intend to develop products and bring them to market at the earliest possible opportunity, with plans to expand into a wide range of fields - including daily necessities, containers, building materials,household appliances and auto parts.

Showa Denko Group Doubles the Site of Storage Facility for Semiconductor Processing High-Purity Gas in South Korea

Korea Showa Chemicals (KSC), which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Showa Denko K.K.(SDK), has conducted construction work to expand the site of specialty gas storage facility in Anseong-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea to better serve the growing demand for high-purity gases for semiconductor production.

In this expansion work, KSC almost doubled the site of the storage facility which had been established in 2007. KSC has also expanded the facility's storage capacity, rebuilt office building, and strengthened the company's customer support system. KSC will continue rebuilding of the storage facility, and increase the storage capacity of the existing facility to be twice as much as that of the initial one.

Sumitomo Chemical to Build a New High-Purity Semiconductor Process Chemical Manufacturing Plant in the U.S.

Sumitomo Chemical announced to establish a new company in Texas in the U.S. through Dongwoo Fine-Chem, a wholly-owned subsidiary located in South Korea, and to build at the company a high-purity semiconductor process chemical manufacturing plant. The new plant is due to commence operations in fiscal 2024.
