Daido Steel develop a sputtering target for blackening layer with excellent discoloration resistance

Daido Steel announced to develop the sputtering target "STARMESHTM-1" for blackening layer, which has low reflectance and excellent discoloration resistance for metal-mesh electrode-based touch panels. The company started selling in April.as a new line of the STARMESHTM series.

The blackening layer deposited by sputtering with STARMESHTM-1 can suppress the reflectance of the copper (Cu) conductive layer down to 10-20%. In addition, this blacking layer does not show any conduction change or color change in environmental tests (temperature 85, humidity 85%, 1000 hours) assuming electronic components for automobiles. Therefore, compared with conventional blackening layer of copper oxide (CuO), it can be used in harsh environments and the life of applicable products can be extended.

Nippon Shokubai provides soft string-type organic EL film into woven fabric

Nippon Shokubai announced to provide the iOLED film light source for the exhibition co-sponsored by ZOZO Technologies and Hosoo. The purpose of this exhibition is to present the results of joint research on fabrics that combine traditional crafts and advanced technology conducted by ZOZO, the University of Tokyo, the Interfaculty Initiative in Information Studies (III), Yasuaki Kakei Laboratory and Hosoo. As one of the exhibits, Nishijin brocade, woven with Nippon Shokubai's iOLED film light source will be exhibited.

The iOLED film light source has overcome the long-standing problem associated with organic EL, which is the degradation of the device due to oxygen and moisture in the air, through materials and device technology (iOLED technology) jointly developed by Nippon Shokubai and NHK. As a result, the company realized a highly flexible light source with a thickness of not more than 0.1 mm, which is thinner than paper.

This time, Nippon Shokubai and ZOZO jointly developed the structure and shape that can be woven into woven fabrics, and created a new thin string-shaped iOLED film light source. It is expected to be used not only for Nishijin brocade but also for various fabrics.
