EBARA Constructs New Automated Plant for Dry Vacuum Pumps

EBARA CORPORATION announced to construct a new automated plant on the premises of Fujisawa District, under the name V7 Building, it will be home to the production of dry vacuum pumps. Building area is approximate 18,450 m2. It will be completed at end of December 2019.

JDI commence mass production of capacitance type glass fingerprint sensor

Japan Display (JDI) announced that it has proceeded with the development of capacitance type glass fingerprint sensors, utilizing LTPS backplane technology and touch panel technology. As such, the company will commence the mass production of glass fingerprint sensors, for the security market, targeting smart door locks.

Fujifilm to invest approximately 10 billion yen in U.S. sites to further expand the semiconductor materials business

FUJIFILM has announced that it will significantly expand facilities for the development, manufacture and quality assurance of cutting-edge semiconductor materials at FUJIFILM Electronic Materials U.S.A.(FEUS), its U.S. subsidiary for developing, manufacturing and marketing semiconductor materials. The company will make investments for approximately 10 billion yen over three years, starting in December 2018.

Through this investment, Fujifilm is expanding the facilities for development, manufacturing and quality assurance of cutting-edge semiconductor materials at FEUS's facilities in Arizona and Rhode Island.

At the Arizona location, new buildings will be constructed to boost the development of CMP slurries and high-purity solvents. The new buildings will feature clean rooms and latest inspection devices to accelerate product development and expand its quality assurance structure. Additional investment will be made to increase the production of CMP slurries.

At the Rhode Island location, the production facilities will be expanded to manufacture advanced solvents.

Mitsubishi Electric to Launch 10.4-inch SVGA TFT-LCD with Projected Capacitive Touch Panels

Mitsubishi Electric announced the launch of 10.4-inch SVGA TFT-LCD modules equipped with projected capacitive touch panels using cover glass of up to five millimeters in thickness. The new modules are designed for industrial applications, including measurement system machine tools, construction equipment, agricultural vehicles, factory automation, and gas station point-of-sale terminals. Sample sales will begin on January 31, 2019 via Mitsubishi Electric offices worldwide.

Mitsui Mining & Smelting to Establish New Marketing Base for Copper Foil Business in China

Mitsui Mining & Smelting announced that it is establishing a marketing base for copper foil business in China.

Under the rapidly growing China market, to develop new customer and earn customer needs early, Mitsui Kinzoku decided to establish the copper foil marketing department in Mitsui Kinzoku Trading (Shanghai). This will be the third marketing base in China, following Mitsui Copper Foil (Hong Kong), and Mitsui Copper Foil (Suzhou).

Mitsui Kinzoku Completes Increase of Production Capacity for Ultra-Thin Electrodeposited Copper Foil with Carrier

Mitsui Mining & Smelting announced that work to increase the capacity for producing the ultra-thin electrodeposited copper foil with carrier MicroThin has completed and the plant operation has started.

As a result of the increased production capacity, the capacity for producing MicroThin at the plant will increase from the current 1.8 million m2 to 2.4 million m2. This will increase Mitsui Kinzoku's total production capacity from 3.3 million m2 to 3.9 million m2.

Idemitsu Kosan Constructs an OLED materials plant in China

Idemitsu Kosan announced that in order to accommodate the growing demand for organic light-emitting diode (OLED) materials in China, the company has decided to build a manufacturing facility for OLED materials in Chengdu, China and to enrich technical support to Chinese customers.

This will be the company's third manufacturing plant for OLED materials after the ones in Japan and Korea. Commercial production at the new plant is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2020.
