TEL Announces the Launch of an Inkjet Printing System for OLED Production

Tokyo Electron (TEL) announced the launch of the Elius 1000 inkjet printing system for manufacturing OLED panels.

The system also supports production of high-definition displays of over 200 pixels per inch (ppi), including 8K TVs and advanced IT products. It is also capable of dispensing up to six kinds of ink at once.

TEL Announces the Launch of a Dry Etch System for Manufacturing G10.5 FPD

Tokyo Electron (TEL) announced the launch of Impressio3300 PICP, a dry etch system with a high density plasma source that enables high resolution processing of G10.5 (2,940 mm x 3,300 mm) glass substrates.

The PICP etch module is equipped with a high density plasma source, which has been uniquely conceived and developed by TEL to address the advanced technology needs of oxide semiconductors and other new devices. Compared with its predecessor, ICP-duo, the PICP module is 20% more energy efficient in terms of plasma process, and offers significant improvement in productivity and process uniformity with lower running cost.

Tokuyama Establishment of Research Laboratory in Taiwan

Tokuyama Corporation announced to establish a Tokuyama Corp. Taiwan Research Laboratory (TRL).

As a result of miniaturized and highly integrate semiconductors, TRL will operate as an information gathering and marketing base for new product creation in order to respond to the demand for high purification of chemical and materials received from semiconductor manufacturers. TRL will also play a role as a development base that will conduct joint development with semiconductor manufacturers and research institutes.

Canon releases exposure equipment that achieves 2.0 m resolution and supports one-shot exposure of 65-inch displays

Canon and Canon Marketing Japan announced to commence sales of the MPAsp-H1003T, a new FPD lithography system that is capable of resolving 2.0 m Line/Space (L/S) features across Generation 8 glass panels, making possible one-shot exposure of 65-inch displays.

The MPAsp-H1003T contributes to highly-efficient mass production of high-quality 65-inch panels utilizing Generation 8 glass panels, helping meet demand for ultra-high definition displays.

The MPAsp-H1003T increases the maximum area for one-shot exposure of displays from the previous limit of 58 inches to 65 inches, resulting in a 37% reduction in cycle time for 65-inch display exposure versus previous models.
 

Mitsubishi Chemical to Absorb Nippon Synthetic Chemical Industry

Mitsubishi Chemical announced that it has decided to absorb its consolidated subsidiary, The Nippon Synthetic Chemical Industry (NSCI) as of April 1, 2019.

NSCI's business centers on synthetic resin products such as Gohsenol (PVOH:polyvinyl alcohol), OPL film (optical PVOH film), and Soarnol (EVOH:ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer).

JDI developed a dynamic pricing solution, utilizing AI technology

Japan Display (JDI) announced that it has developed a Dynamic Pricing Solution (hereinafter "DPS"), to assist store owners, by calculating product pricing, utilizing AI (Artificial Intelligence).

DPS, along with analyzing the sales performance of products with AI, is a solution that introduces optimal pricing, calculating pricing elasticity, from the customer and store factors. By introducing DPS, this will enable a contribution to increased sales and net profit. Furthermore, by connecting the DPS system with the electronic shelf labels, it becomes possible to change the pricing displayed in real time, thus improving store operational efficiencies.

JDI has focused on the display hardware business, however, the company are expanding the value chain to include the business of self-creating the information to be displayed in the display.
