Showa Denko Opens Its Subsidiary's Branch in Wuhan to Sell High-purity Gases

Showa Denko (SDK) announced to establish a branch of its subsidiary gShanghai Showa Chemicals (SSC) in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China, aiming to strengthen its business to sell high-purity gases for electronics in China. The branch commenced operations in this March.

In the past, SDK shipped all of its high-purity gases for electronics to be used by customers in China from SSC located in Shanghai. This time, however, SDK decided to establish a branch of SSC and its warehouse in Wuhan.

Showa Denko Expands High-Purity Hydrogen Bromide Plant

Showa Denko (SDK) announced to expand its capacity to produce high-purity hydrogen bromide (HBr), which is used in the manufacture of semiconductors, and start operation of the expanded HBr plant in this March.

High-purity HBr is a specialty gas mainly used for fine-etching of polysilicon in the manufacturing processes of semiconductors including DRAMs and NAND flash memories. SDK had a plant to synthesize and purify HBr which had capacity to produce 600 tons a year. However, the plant had been maintaining high operating rate. Therefore, anticipating further increase in the demand for high-purity HBr, SDK expanded the capacity to 900 tons a year, 1.5 times as much as the previous level.

NSG Develops World's Thinnest Transparent Electro-conductive Coating Glass

NSG Group announced that it has produced a 0.7 mm-thick glass with transparent conductive oxide thin coating (NSG TEC). Produced with online chemical vapor deposition (CVD) technology during the glass manufacturing process, it is the world's thinnest glass with transparent electro-conductive coating manufactured with online CVD.
