Idemitsu Kosan and Toray entered into an agreement for technical cooperation relating to OLED materials

Idemitsu Kosan and Toray Industries have entered into an agreement for technical cooperation relating to OLED materials, which both parties expect to be an area of future growth.

From here on, Idemitsu and Toray will mutually utilize the OLED materials, technology and expertise that they possess, and cooperate in the development of new materials and material evaluation. Furthermore, both parties will aim to cooperate and effectively use the assets they possess, including evaluation facilities and production facilities, to improve the performance and durability of OLED displays, as well as to reduce the costs of materials that they provide.

AGC's Curved Cover Glass for Car-Mounted Displays Incorporated to the Mass Produced Vehicle for the First Time in the World

AGC Asahi Glass (AGC) has announced that its cover glass for car-mounted displays will be installed in the new Audi A8. This will mark the world's first ever mass produced vehicle to incorporate curved cover glass.

The cockpit of the new Audi A8 will feature two touch-screen displays that will allow vehicle occupants to display and control the information necessary for safe and comfortable driving. To realize this, AGC's curved cover glass will be used for the upper display, a large and gently-curving 10.1 inch display that shows navigation and infotainment systems, while flat cover glass will be used for the lower display, a touchscreen which will be used to operate the system.

Mitsubishi Electric to Launch 10.1-inch WXGA TFT-LCD for measuring instruments and handheld devices

Mitsubishi Electric announced the coming launch of a new 10.1-inch WXGA TFT-LCD module for industrial applications including measuring instruments and handheld devices.

The module will offer an unprecedented combination of high-resolution WXGA (1280~800 dots), super-wide 170-degree horizontal/vertical viewing angles, 1000 cd/m2 high brightness, operating temperature range of -40 to 80 degrees Celsius, and thin, lightweight design. Sample sales will begin October 1 through Mitsubishi Electric offices worldwide.
