TEL Announcement on Merger of Consolidated Subsidiaries

Tokyo Electron (TEL) announced that its Board of Directors had adopted a resolution to merge its two subsidiaries, Tokyo Electron Yamanashi and Tokyo Electron Tohoku. Date of merger will be July 1, 2017.

Japan Display changes in the scheduled dates for the acquisition of shares of JOLED

Japan Display (JDI) announced changes in the scheduled dates for completion of a contract for the acquisition of shares of JOLED from original date (March 31, 2017) to June 2017.

In regards to JDI's efforts to commercialize OLED the company has been constructing a new business model. The acquisition date has been changed in order to further discuss and consider a framework for commercialization.

Sumitomo Metal Mining Conclusion of Stock Purchase Agreement for Sale of Lead Frame Business Companies with Jih Lin Technology

Sumitomo Metal Mining (SMM) announced to sell its shares in Malaysian SH Precision (Malaysia), Suzhou SH Precision (China), and SH Precision (Yonezawa-shi, Yamagata) companies engaged in the lead frame business in which SMM holds shares through its subsidiary SH Materials (Minato-ku, Tokyo) and concluded a stock purchase agreement with Jih Lin Technology (Taiwan).

JDI Announces Expansion of Automotive LCD Production Capacity and Capability

Japan Display (JDI) has announced the decision to increase LCD glass panel production capacity at its Tottori Plant, scheduled to begin November 2017, and, in addition, to build a new automated assembly line there for prototypes and process development of advanced LCD modules, scheduled to begin April 2017.

JX Nippon Mining & Metals Plans Made to Raise Production Capacity of Rolled Copper Foil for FPC

JX Nippon Mining & Metals has decided to put back into operation the surface treatment equipment that had been idle in the Copper Foil Department of the Hitachi Works, boosting production capacity of rolled copper foil.

Last year, the company began taking steps to boost capacity of manufacturing equipment, introducing a new finishing mill and degreaser at the Kurami Works. Along with this move, the surface treatment equipment that had been idle in the Copper Foil Department of the Hitachi Works will be put back into operation in April of this year, as measures are being taken to improve quality and raise productivity.

Sumitomo Chemical to Boost Production Capacity of Film-Based Touchscreens Panels for Flexible OLED

Sumitomo Chemical has announced to expand the production capacity of film-based touchscreen panels at Dongwoo Fine-Chem, its wholly-owned subsidiary in South Korea.

The production capacity is to be more than tripled, with the expanded commercial-scale production coming onstream in January 2018.

DNP Develops Interactive E-Paper as POP

Dai Nippon Printing (DNP) in conjunction with E Ink Holdings has developed a new Point of Purchase (POP) advertising tool capable of changing colors and patterns in line with consumer behaviors.

This new interactive e-paper is based on Prism, the e-paper from E Ink, a leading global provider of e-paper. The new product reacts by changing colors or patterns when consumers pick up products standing close to the interactive e-paper, or pass their membership cards over it. By altering the displayed contents in line with consumer behavior, the new product is designed to boost the eye-catching effect, facilitating stronger product appeals to consumers.
