Demonstration of new displays became to be activated due to correspondence to with corona generation

Sharp proposed a transparent display partition due to correspondence to the corona virus generation as a timely product. As its name, it has two functions such as solutions against the corona virus and information display. In the demonstration movie, window, store, school and so on were introduced for its effective applications.

By the way, detail technology of display device was not almost disclosed. However, quality of the past prototype (see-through display) was not sufficient because of existence of polarizer and color filter, for example, low transmittance (10 % and under). On the other hand, in this new device, it's possible to control transmission and diffusion in-plane. As a result, this display could to be adopted to a partition application without lighting because of high transmittance.

Non-contact type touch operating display in air appeared

By contrast, Mitsubishi Electric introduced a non-contact type touch operating display in air, in order to greatly enhance sanitation and safety of the touch-panel display, too.

As figure 1, image is displayed in air by making use of beam splitter and reflective sheet. Letter can be read clearly because of high resolution image in air. Furthermore, touch operation with high precision by non-contact method can be realized by use of distance measuring sensor, which is possible to detect space position of fingertip. For this reason, not only sanitation is superior, but also fingerprint does not remain. And also, it's effective for high security applications such as ATM of the bank, entrance of the mansion and etc. because image can't to be seen from side angle.

Mega-contrast ratio TFT-LCD is used for automotive system

Alps Alpine suggested a new system "digital cabin" as a next generation automotive system.

It's a system with highly comfortable moving space inclusive of rear seat by original software treatment of various input and output devices (human machine interface, sensor, connectivity, and etc.) using HPRA (High Performance Reference Architecture), which is an original integrated ECU. In this system, the latest technologies, such as surround display with reduction of dead area using the E mirror, integrated input and output devices, roof large size display, zoning sound were introduced.

In this system, an original TFT-LCD "Dual cell LCD" was built in as a display product. Its contrast ratio is mega-contrast almost same as that of OLED. Concretely, the local dimming technology was introduced due to minimization of black brightness level. However, number of LEDs is not sufficient in the conventional local dimming method, as a result, Halo phenomenon appears. In short, surround of bright object image become to be brighter. To suppress this phenomenon, mini LED structure was adopted by great increase of LEDs.

LCD module is composed of LED backlight, LC cell for local dimming, and LC cell for image (normal LC cell). In short, transmittance of the local diming cell is controlled by operation of liquid crystal material due to control of gray-scale. These two cells are controlled respectively by an original algorithm. Furthermore, borderlessness in frame of the glass substrate was obtained by black print due to increase of high-class.

Picture 3 shows comparison of 12.1-inch panel. Contrast ratio of dual cell LCD (left) is higher than that of the conventional LCD (right) because of reduction of black brightness.

1 Shot AOI

In this system, various patterns in the substrate is captured at 1 shot by the CCD area sensor camera (50 mega-pixel), and then, AOI is treated by original image treatment technologies. AOI time of 320 ~ 420 o substrate is mere 10 seconds.
